41st. Wedding Anniversary

Journal Entry: Mon Dec 21, 2009, 8:13 AM

Today, December 21th. is Andy and my 41th. Wedding Anniversary. We first met when I was a fresh faced girl still in high school and he was this dashing young Air Force Policeman home on leave when we first met.

I can still remember the very first time I laid eyes on this dashing young man who would become my soul mate. He was playing ball in the alley with his young nephew and I was stealing a quick glance...well quite a few glances out my upstairs bedroom window at him.:giggle: He was wearing a light blue shirt, jeans with a front crease that only a military man could appreciate and a pair of Hush Puppies shoes. I remember he was wearing his watch with the face toward him which I found soooooo attractive for some reason.....Be still my beating heart!!

That home on leave resulted in Andy taking me to my Junior Prom. Ah a man in a uniform. I was the envy of all the girls whose dates were still going through puberty and fighting acne.

A year and a half later I became his bride and during these 41yrs. we have been blessed with 4 children and 4 grand-children...plus 2 dogs! I can't wait to see what 50 years will bring us!;)

My Sweetie surprised me by bringing me home a dozen long-stemmed red roses this morning! Can we all say AWWWWWWWWWW!! :iconbemyvalentineplz:

Please click on these snapshots to view them a bit larger and enjoy a stroll down memory lane with Andy and me.

Back From Florida

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 19, 2009, 4:22 PM

Well, Florida wasn't very warm and sunny this go around.:( One morning my hubby and I took our daily morning walk along the beach and was met by 'sea fog' that left us literally wet! We only had one day where we could see a sunset and than that wasn't a really great on.

But we had our dear friends Marsha and her hubby Brian with us and all was not doom and gloom.:) We played a card game called ';Phase 10' and had a great time...I highly recommend this card game! WE hit the hot tub and the heated pool even though the cool ocean breeze made our teeth chatter when we got out. We made up silly songs and sang to a program on Brian's I-Phone called 'I Am T-Pain' where it had music and a beat that you sing to and it makes your voice sound good!! Check this link out with ones using this fun application. [link] :sing:

Anyway, I'm back and hope everyone had a safe week while I was gone. Take care  :blowkiss:

I'm Still Here......Kinda

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 3, 2009, 10:54 AM

My Thoughts

Yes, I'm still here....kinda. First of all I would like to apologize for my lack of response to the many appreciated :+fav:s and comments on my recent works.

As some of you are aware I've been battling for quite sometime issues with both my right shoulder and hand. I hate to repeat myself but I'd like to bring up to speed those who aren't aware of my condition......even though it is just a 'tiny' bump compared to the mountain like conditions that many here on DeviantArt are battling.

After my right shoulder surgery in August of 2008 and several months of physical therapy, I was still experiencing pain and so I went to a doctor that deals with pain management. After some tests he found out that I also have degenerative disk disease, carpel tunnel in both hands along with arthritis. I had to resort to hard molded splints on both hands. They finally injected cortisone in both my upper spine and in my wrists for some relief. It helped to some degree but didn't last long. Than right before Thanksgiving, I had cortisone injected into my thumb joints because of the pain and swelling.
Ouch!!!

So....I'm looking at the first of the year to have surgery on my right hand for both the Carpel tunnel and on the thumb. Yes, I said the thumb...it's called 'Basal Joint Arthritis'. The most common form of surgery for this condition is to remove one of the bones that form the thumb CMC joint, and replace it with soft tissue from an adjacent tendon. Here is a link if you care to see..and I mean see about this condition and surgery that seems to be seen more in women than men. That's not fair is it girls!! :shakefist: [link]

Anyway, I'm looking at 6 weeks in a cast and than the left hand may be next.:( Hopefully by Spring I'm back to feeling lots better!:fingerscrossed:

I think that after all this I need a vacation..........Hey, I think Florida is calling my name!:giggle: So my hubby and I will be getting on that big silver bird this Saturday and hope to get some much needed R&R on Anna Maria Island.:relax: Maybe that warm Florida sun will help this old gal feel better.

Once again a big old :iconmonkeyloveplz: and :iconthankyouplz: to those here who have been so kind and supportive to me during this 'bump' in the road. I look forward to next Spring, Summer, Autumn.......well, you know what I mean!:iconhappydayplz:

BTW please take note that I've changed my avatar
Love to all!!!:iconheart4uplz:

My Thoughts

My Journal
I wanted to keep my friends here on dA up to date on my progress. I go back to the doctor on the 9th. of October to see if he is still considering another pain block in another area of my upper spine since the last one seemed to help a little. I've been wearing hard plastic braces on both wrists and including my thumbs. I do therapy here at home to keep my fingers from getting stiff from the arthritis. Since I have no cartilage in the base of the thumbs the brace helps but it makes it very hard to use the mouse to do anything on the computor. So when I get on the PC I have to wear the older braces for my carpal tunnel and that gives me more mobility. I'm suppose to limit the time I do this....but I have to admit that I do more than I should.:shh:

I want to thank each and everyone who has been kind enough to ask how I'm doing and I would like to thank ones for :+fav: my work. Take care and as always continue to make beautiful art.:blowkiss:

Pain Block Update

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 4, 2009, 10:25 AM
Patricia's Thoughts

First of all I wanted to tell all of you sweet, kind friends here on dA how much I appreciated all your prayers and well wishes before having my Epidural Steroid Pain Block yesterday.:blowkiss:ss

The procedure went well. It really only took about 15-20 minutes after I was wheeled into the operating room and rolled unceremoniously off my back to my tummy on to the table next to me. You all know how those lovely gowns cover almost nothing! The table looked like one of those tables that you get a massage on...you know how you stick your face into that little cushion with the cutout for you to breath through. I asked Dr. Lee and yes he is Asian, young and very cute. He has nice teeth...I have a thing for noticing peoples smiles and teeth.:giggle: Anyway, I asked him where all the nice mood music was and the candles that were to relax ones. He said that he has never had a massage but would keep that in mind. I wanted to remember this special moment if not for just the nice needles deadening all around the spinal area and that harpoon that administered the hopefully :fingerscrossed: pain block with music. Don't they play music in some operating rooms:?

Now for the bad news. The pain is still there because it takes between 3-7 days for it to take affect!:( I hope that this procedure works. He said that if it helps some, than he's going to wheel me into that room again and give me another pain block in other areas. After all I have spinal disks that are just begging to have some pain relief and I figure he'll hit the right spot sooner or later. All I have to say is that he'd better have some mood music next go around!!;)
